March 13, 2025 – SLB Capital Advisors cited in Institutional Real Estate Inc.’s Review of 2024 sale leaseback activity

Scott Merkle, managing partner of SLB Capital Advisors, commented, “We saw a return of large sale-leasebacks in the fourth quarter of 2024, with volume rising to $4.2 billion, up by about 71 percent over the prior quarter.”
The sale leaseback market is also, in part, driven by merger and acquisition activity, and 2024 saw almost a 10 percent pickup in North American M&A transactions, per Pitchbook. SLB partner Matt Wrobleski commented, “While this pickup fed into an active year for sale-leasebacks, the broader market uncertainties are slowing M&A decision making at the moment.”
SLB expects the many drivers compelling businesses to consider a sale-leaseback to continue. Wrobleski added, “Amid uncertainties across tariffs, inflation and global conflicts affecting the economic landscape, the sale leaseback continues to represent a highly attractive capital allocation tool for many public and private companies.”
